Immigrant Rights Program

As a nation of immigrants, it is especially troubling that the mistreatment of people because they are new to the United States seems to be more common than ever. Discriminating against anyone due to his/her national origin or religion is against the law.

The Equal Rights Center has found in recent years that the legal, civil and human rights of too many immigrants are being violated not only by the uninformed, but by individuals who consciously choose instead to surrender to their prejudices.

Uncovering and fighting cases of mistreatment of people because of their national original, in housing, employment, public accommodations, government services and even in education, the ERC has become the voice and advocate of scores of victims.

Many immigrants are not aware that they possess civil rights that are protected by law. The ERC works with other agencies, groups, religious institutions and individuals to familiarize members of the immigrant community with their rights and the resources available to protect those rights.

Los Derechos del Inmigrante

Los Estados Unidos es una nación de inmigrantes y por eso es preocupante que el mal trato hacia las personas que apenas han llegado a este país parece ser más común que antes. Es ilegal discriminar en contra de una persona a base de su origen nacional.

El Equal Rights Center (Centro para la Igualdad de Derechos) ha descubierto que los derechos humanos, civiles y legales de demasiados inmigrantes han sido violados no solamente por personas ignorantes e mal informadas, pero por individuos que concientemente actúan de manera discriminatoria.

El ERC se ha convertido en la voz de muchas victimas que han sufrido discriminación por causa de su origen nacional en la vivienda, el empleo, las acomodaciones públicas, los servicios gubernamentales, e incluso en la educación.

Muchos inmigrantes no conocen sus derechos civiles y protecciones legales. El ERC trabaja con otras agencias, organizaciones, e instituciones religiosas para informar a los miembros de la comunidad de inmigrantes acerca de sus derechos y de recursos disponibles para proteger sus derechos.
